Short-Term Disability:

Facing a disability can be overwhelming. One of the last things you want to think about during your career is that it might be interrupted by a disability that lasts weeks, months or even years. College Benefits Group can offer you peace of mind with the security of a disability plan that will be there should you ever need it, for a reasonable price that is automatically deducted from your paycheck.

Now that you are an employee of the University of Connecticut you have different options to financially cover unanticipated misfortunes such as a disability. College Benefits Group, LLC has made it easier with an essential disability plan offered by The Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company.

If you elect the Alternate Retirement Plan (ARP), and you are a member of the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA) or a management exempt employee of UConn, the disability portion of the ARP will not cover you until you are disabled for six months. The short-term disability plan administered by College Benefits Group starts to pay benefits after 30 days of disability. Please review the details of this plan on the right of this webpage.

The short-term disability plan administered by College Benefits Group have been designed to help financially protect employees of the University of Connecticut who have been disabled and to fill benefits gaps in the State-offered disability plans. Please contact us with any questions.

Sincerely,
